Speculation arose when a new piece of street art, with a distinctive green hue, was spotted on a building in Finsbury Park, north London this Sunday, leading to rumours that it might be a creation of the mysterious artist Banksy.
Confirmation that Banksy was indeed responsible for this artwork came on Monday through the artist’s official Instagram. Not only has the mural – cleverly positioned behind a tree to blend in with actual leaves – garnered significant interest, but it has also shone a light on the area’s postal code N4.
The number of people looking up Finsbury Park surged by 30% from Sunday to Monday, marking the highest one-day search volume for the area since July 2023.
Property specialist Tim Bannister remarked, “The moment Banksy verified his association with the new mural in Finsbury Park, we witnessed a spike in individuals heading to Rightmove eager to learn about the neighbourhood, what kinds of properties are on offer, and the lifestyle of the vicinity.”
In N4, the Finsbury Park area, the present average listing price for homes is £657,014, and the typical monthly rental price is listed at £2,519.
Finsbury Park is not just known for its vast namesake park but also for its convenient transit links via the Victoria and Piccadilly Underground Lines. Marc von Grundherr, a Director at Benham and Reeves, remarked: ““There’s much that this locale has to offer, and it’s been on the radar of potential homebuyers well before Banksy’s artwork emerged. The park is a highlight for the community, and it’s also among the best-connected zones in Zone 2. With Banksy now adding to the area’s allure, we anticipate its housing market to continue thriving over the next year, as it gains recognition as one of London’s subtly emerging prime locations.”
