The ESPC has reinitiated the SPC Property Practice certificate for solicitor estate agents in Scotland.
This Scottish property platform is bringing back its exclusive accreditation program for solicitor estate agents after a fruitful initial year in 2023.
Developed alongside The Law Society of Scotland and Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum, the SPC Property Practice certificate is a distinctive credential available to solicitor estate agency firms that subscribe to the ESPC’s Charter, marking a first in the UK.
Off the back of the course’s initial year, a fresh group of 40 participants is set to begin on April 24, 2024, with the course concluding in December of the same year.
This certification positions ESPC’s Chartered member organizations at the forefront of possible UK-wide regulations for the real estate industry expected to roll out later in the year. Early discussions with pertinent Westminster bodies enabled ESPC to fine-tune the coursework to offer substantial benefits while assuring solicitor real estate agents of superior knowledge, service, and customer care levels that surpass traditional estate agent offerings.
ESPC crafted the syllabus through a partnership with The Law Society of Scotland and the Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum. It will be taught by six trainers with expertise in surveying, law, soliciting, and marketing. The course covers several areas such as Real Estate Agency, Marketing, Building Construction, Conveyancing for those outside that field, Legal knowledge, and a new section on Ethics for this year, presented by The Law Society of Scotland’s Property Law Committee. The aim is to solidify the role of solicitor real estate agencies within the Scottish property market.
The SPC Property Practice certificate complements the ESPC Charter, initiated in November 2022, that allowed ESPC’s member firms to aspire for Chartered status, committing to superior client care and expertise. The certificate enhances the quality customers should expect from Chartered firms, with certified solicitor estate agents devoted to providing an improved customer experience.
Plans are underway to expand the course to additional SPCs across Scotland, aiming to elevate the standard of service for property buyers and sellers nationwide.
Ashley McInulty, head of member services at ESPC, expressed pride in launching the second year of the program for a new group, reflecting the dedication of member firms to top-notch service. McInulty emphasizes ESPC’s commitment to enhancing industry standards and assures customers of exceptional service when choosing an ESPC solicitor real estate agent. With excitement for the upcoming year, McInulty appreciates the collaboration with The Law Society of Scotland and Edinburgh Conveyancers Forum in this endeavour.
