Savills Enhances Planning Services in the East of England

Savills has announced that its planning departments in Cambridge and Chelmsford will merge immediately, forming a unified 15-member team. This integrated team will cover regions including Cambridgeshire, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Lincolnshire. They’ll also collaborate with the London team to support the A12 corridor into East London.

The newly combined group will offer its services to a variety of sectors such as residential, life sciences, technology, healthcare, retirement living, education, commercial ventures, mixed-use developments in town centres, infrastructure, energy, student housing, hotels, sports, and waste management.

Under the leadership of Andy Moffat, the current director of Cambridge planning, the team will be managed by an experienced group and will continue to work out of their existing offices in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Norwich, Peterborough, and Lincoln.

Andy Moffat expressed that although the teams have been collaborating closely, the formal merger maximizes their skills and experience. This positions the team to take advantage of regional opportunities such as government growth plans around Cambridge, various renewable energy projects along the East coast, and the ongoing demand for new, sustainable housing. This merger creates one of the biggest regional planning teams in the area, ensuring top-notch service to both existing and future clients.

Sam Hollingworth of the Chelmsford planning team spoke about the expansion of expertise, growth potential, and comprehensive planning consultancy this merger would bring. He emphasized the significant collaborative prospects across different sectors and is looking forward to enhancing the strong reputation they’ve built over time.

Finally, Jonathan Steele, the head of regional planning at Savills, mentioned that the planners are already involved in several ground-breaking projects. The collaboration between the teams will promote strategic work across the region, help preserve and develop local expertise, and leverage the wider Savills network.
