Knighthead Capital Management LLC (“Knighthead”) has finalized the acquisition of a 48-acre former industrial site located at Bordesley Park. This purchase expands Knighthead’s land ownership in the area to over 60 acres, not including St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.
Knighthead, in partnership with Birmingham City FC, has exciting plans to develop the site into a dynamic Sports Quarter. The project includes the creation of a versatile stadium, state-of-the-art training facilities, and additional mixed-use real estate ventures that will feature a variety of entertainment options. This new development is poised to create more than 3,000 local jobs.
The redevelopment of Bordesley Green and the construction of facilities accessible to residents is a key part of the owners’ drive to make a lasting, positive impact on Birmingham and its diverse communities, along with contributing to the evolution of the city’s infrastructure and skyline.
Sadie Janes, co-leader of the Birmingham development team at Savills, mentioned: “This transaction represents a significant urban renewal project for the area that will repurpose a large tract of previously industrial land. It highlights a robust investment in Birmingham, underpinned by a bold vision set to deliver numerous advantages like job creation and an enhanced city economy.”

It’s a game-changer for the future of our teams and the local community we are part of. We look forward to working with the fans, nearby residents, and Birmingham partners to bring our vision for the Sports Quarter to life.”
