Kagool, a leading company in data and analytics, has just secured a 10-year rental deal for 8,100 square feet at the distinctive and remodelled Rum Runner Works, joining the technology company Ricoh Digital.
The building, once home to the famous Rum Runner Nightclub of the 1980s, has been transformed into a modern office space that still retains elements of its history. Its design includes a mix of the original brickwork with modern glass and steel, giving it an industrial yet efficient vibe. Ideal for today’s businesses, it boasts high ceilings and visible services, as well as a special communal terrace with a view of the Gas Street basin.
Conveniently situated by Birmingham’s historic canals, Rum Runner Works is a short distance from the main rail hubs, New Street and Snow Hill stations. It’s also only 20 minutes from Curzon Street Railway Station, which will link Birmingham to London through the HS2 rail. The area benefits from the newly expanded Midland Metro line.
There is a remaining office suite measuring 3,200 square feet that’s available to rent right away.
Ben Thacker, from Savills Birmingham office agency, states: “Rum Runner Works stands out in Birmingham as a prime choice for organizations in search of distinct and top-quality office space in the heart of the city. Its exclusive outdoor terraces with private access to the canal views are a major hit with current tenants. We expect strong interest for the last available office suite.”
Tim Hamlin, the Asset Management Director at Picton, declares: “We warmly welcome Kagool to their new space at Rum Runner Works and hope it suits them well.”
Dan Barlow, the Group CEO of Kagool, expresses: “We’re thrilled to relocate our headquarters to Birmingham, a bustling and growing tech hub in the UK. With its vibrant business scene, diverse talent pool, and strategic location, Birmingham is the ideal setting for Kagool’s future growth. Rum Runner Works has all the qualities we were looking for in a headquarters.
“As we start this new phase, Kagool is committed to innovation, nurturing talent, and delivering value to all our stakeholders. The move to Birmingham is an investment in our long-term growth. We are also looking forward to using the balcony when the British weather permits!”
