Continuation of Lords Committee Inquiry into Real Estate Agent Regulation

The Investigation and Regulators Committee of the House of Lords will proceed with their concise investigation into the regulation of real estate agents by hearing testimonies from representative agents, National Trading Standards, and The Property Ombudsman today.

Chaired by Baroness Taylor of Bolton, the inquiry focuses on assessing the current practices governing real estate agents in the residential industry. The attention is particularly on the necessity for a new regulatory body for the industry.

The committee’s meeting today will include insights from representatives of real estate agents and redress schemes.

The session will be available for live viewing on Parliament TV starting at 10:30 am tomorrow.

Scheduled to provide testimony at 10:30 am are:

  • Andrew Bulmer, CEO of the Property Institute;
  • Luay al-Khatib, Director of Knowledge and Practice at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors;
  • Timothy Douglas, Head of Policy and Campaigns at Propertymark.

Scheduled to provide testimony at 11:30 am are:

  • Martin Boyd, Chair of the Leasehold Advisory Service (LEASE);
  • Allison Farrar, Operations Manager in the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team, National Trading Standards;
  • Rebecca Marsh, Ombudsman and Chief Executive of The Property Ombudsman.
